Having been invited to join a Pulp Alley campaign at my club, I convinced Miss Claus to get me some Copplestone models for Christmas.
As a theme, I picked the Fantastic Four, and changed them for the 20s & 30s. Each model has a blue reminiscent of one of the group's design eras, and despite the differences in their equipment, the use of a limited palette ties them together. Apart from Kantor Blue, all the paints are Foundry. The names of the characters are likewise derived from the Fantastic Four's names.
Each model was painted in block colours, given a wash of Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted once all over with the base colour again. The bases are em4 slottabases covered in grouting painted brown and drybrushed cream. The edges were neatened in black acrylic. Apart from the slottabases and tufts, the rest of what was used in basing came from Wilkos. I cannot recommend highly enough the use of DIY and poundstore products for basing and terrain.
So without further ado, here are the Phantom's Four, desperate heroes against Fascism. Shoshanna Stern, the invisible Phantom, is supported in her daredevil works by her brother, Hansel Stern, her lover "Young" Jacob Grimm, and their tutor, Professor Ryszard Rwyt.

If you can guess the derivations of the changes in the names, have a go in the comments!
Really good! The colours make them more of a unit. I agree, the Pound Store/Wilco outlets are the best places to pick up cheap scenic stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It really is a 0% reduction in quality for a 200-1000% drop in price compared to "hobby" products.
DeleteThey're very cool, but Professor is extra special.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much =]
